This is the professional website of Kevin James, an Canadian internet application developer currently living in Toronto, ON, Canada. The site is technology oriented and generally focused on my current projects as well as general thoughts on news related to technology in general.
Most of my experience since university has been in the development of web applications. I've used a variety of different platforms and frameworks for it.
I have quite a bit of experience with Miscrosoft technology, both on the developer and administration side. I prefer the .NET framework these days for MS development, but still have to do quite a bit of maintenance of older ASP and Visual Basic stuff. I've taken the lead on more than one occasion to design and implement solutions to ease the transition from ASP to ASP.NET.
This site, as well as most other sites I've done via contract work have been done using PHP and MySQL running on Apache servers (LAMP). I'm currently in the process of setting up my own server for this as well so that I'll have the ability to upgrade to the latest and greatest versions of PHP and MySQL at my convenience.
